Stop Overthinking and Lead Yourself Forward
Before we dive in, I just released a new YouTube video that’s right in line with what we’re talking about here — leading yourself through the messy moments (hello, imposter syndrome) and showing up for your biz with more confidence.
Prefer to listen instead of watch? If screen fatigue is real for you right now, pop it on like a podcast and soak it in while you go about your day.
If you’ve been sitting on an idea or goal for weeks (or let’s be honest — months), thinking:
“I just need to figure a few more things out first.”
“I’m not ready to put this out there yet.”
“Once I have more time or it’s more polished, I’ll do it.”
You’re not lazy. You’re not unmotivated. And you’re definitely not alone.
You’re just waiting to feel ready.
And that’s the thing about readiness — it’s a moving target. 🎯
The Myth of Feeling Ready
When I launched my very first online course, I spent months tweaking everything. Slides, outlines, emails, launch plans — you name it, I obsessed over it.
Every time I felt close to launching, a new wave of “but wait…” hit me.
It wasn’t good enough yet.
What if people didn’t sign up?
What if I forgot something important?
The truth is, I wasn’t perfecting it — I was avoiding it. Because putting something out there makes it real. And real can feel risky.
But here’s what I learned after I finally hit “publish” (yep, imperfectly):
Clarity doesn’t come from thinking. It comes from doing.
The real insights, the real learning, and honestly, the real confidence came AFTER I put the course into the world - and now I’m working on the 3rd iteration!
Waiting Doesn’t Make It Better — Action Does
We love to make sure things are just right. But too often, that turns into spinning in circles.
The offer never launches.
The new project never starts.
The Instagram post stays in drafts.
And the longer we wait, the harder it feels to get moving. Overthinking becomes our comfort zone. But leadership — especially self-leadership — is about choosing action, even when it’s uncomfortable. It’s about taking the next doable step, not waiting for the perfect moment.
So… How Do You Start When You Don’t Feel Ready?
You start small. You start scrappy. You start anyway.
Here’s what that looks like:
Draft the idea, even if it’s messy.
Send the email, even if it’s not perfectly worded.
Share the offer, even if you’re still refining the details.
Think of it like this → You don’t need to see the whole staircase. You just need to take the next step. Once you do, you’ll have more data, feedback, and yes — confidence — to keep going.
